What we are
SpotifyMody is an independent editorial publication that covers the world of modified Spotify Android clients. We publish long-form reviews of Spotify MOD APK builds, installation guides, comparison pieces against the official Spotify tiers, and field-tested safety checklists. We are not affiliated with Spotify AB. We do not develop any of the MOD APKs we review. We do not sell or distribute any APK on this site.
The site is run by a small rotating cast of writers, audio engineers, and reformed sysadmins who test MOD APK builds in real conditions — on real phones, on real networks, for at least two weeks per build — and document what they find. Every review answers four questions: what changed, who made it, what is the SHA-256 hash, and what is the worst thing that could happen if I install this.
What we are not
We are not a MOD APK distributor. We do not host APK files on this site. We do not provide direct download links to any specific build. We do not take sponsorship from any MOD APK developer. We do not run banner ads, popups, push notifications, or third-party tracking pixels beyond standard Google Analytics.
We are not Spotify AB. The Spotify name, the Spotify logo, and all related audio trademarks are the property of Spotify AB. Our use of those marks is editorial and falls under fair use. If you are a rights-holder and have a concern about how we use your mark, contact us and we will respond within 48 hours.
Editorial standards
Every review we publish has been tested by at least two members of the editorial team on at least two different devices. Every installation guide has been followed end-to-end on a fresh Android install before publication. Every comparison table reflects what we observed during a two-week daily-drive test, not what a developer or vendor told us to write.
We publish corrections with the same prominence as the original article. If we get something wrong, we say so on the original page within 48 hours, and we link to the correction from the homepage. The SpotifyMody desk does not have a "no corrections" policy and does not believe in quietly editing articles without leaving a trace. Editorial integrity is the only asset this site has.
Testing methodology
Our test fleet consists of four Android devices: a Pixel 8 Pro on Android 15, a Samsung Galaxy S23 on One UI 6, a Xiaomi 13 Pro on MIUI 14, and a OnePlus 11 on OxygenOS 14. Every reviewed build is installed on each device using the verification process described in our safety field guide. Every review uses a secondary Spotify account, never a primary account with active subscriptions or family plan membership.
The test playlist is identical across all reviews: 120 tracks spanning five genres, with at least one track from each Premium-only category (audiobook chapter, podcast episode, Jam session recording). The test network is the same home Wi-Fi plus a Verizon mobile connection, both monitored for unexpected data calls.
Audio quality is verified using a third-party spectrum analyzer app, not just the in-app "Very High" toggle. Stability is verified by leaving each build playing for at least 72 continuous hours. Survivability is verified by waiting for the next Spotify server-side update (typically every 4–6 weeks) and observing whether the build survives without a forced logout.
Funding
The site is funded by a small annual subscription tier and by occasional affiliate links to audio gear we personally use. The subscription tier exists because we don't want to run banner ads. The affiliate links are clearly marked. We do not accept sponsored content from MOD APK developers and we do not run sponsored reviews.
If we accept a free review unit from a developer (which has happened twice in our history), we disclose it at the top of the review. To date, every review unit we have accepted has been returned within 30 days of testing completion.
